Frogs Nip Miners, 3-2
|
The Fayetteville Frogs took Welch pitcher Jackson Jenkins's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Welch Fields. The final score had Fayetteville getting past the Miners, 3-2. Jenkins went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. Fayetteville reliever Jakob Jones picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Trey Brown was tagged with the loss. The Miners have now dropped 5 straight.
Fayetteville used the hitting of Devin Graber to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Frogs on top, 3-2. For the game, Graber had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"That's baseball," said Welch manager Christopher Weller. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
