Braves Hold Off Miners, 3-2

The Danville Braves got a stellar effort from pitcher Keith Phillips, helping Danville score a win over the visiting Welch Miners, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Phillips, now 3-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Colton Roginski earned the save for Danville, his 6th of the year.
The Braves got a big at-bat from right fielder Ruben Savala. For the game, Savala went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Danville a 2-0 lead.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Phillips.
The 8th-place Braves now have a record of 8-17.
