Braves Handed 3-1 Loss by Bluefield
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Bowen Field enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Bluefield Blue Jays faced a tough opponent in Danville pitcher Elijah Goodman, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Bowen Field by a final score of 3-1. Goodman went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Brom Kucera locked down his 9th save.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from shortstop Oliver Sanchez. For the game, Sanchez went 1-3 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Bluefield a 3-1 lead.
Said losing manager Kevin Jacobson: "We've got to find a way to push a run across."
Bluefield goes to 16-8, Danville to 13-11.
