Twins Do In Cubs, 6-0
|
Craig Kendall propelled his team to victory over the Raleigh Cubs. The final score was 6-0, Elizabethton. Kendall, now 1-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Steve Becker closed it out for his 1st save.
Yvan Gervais had a big 3-run home run for the Twins in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Elizabethton leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Matthew De Gado and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Twins on top, 6-0.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Kendall said.
With the win, Elizabethton pushed its record to 14-11.
