Erwin Nets 3-2 Win Versus Pirates
|
The Erwin Mountaineers faced a tough opponent in Bristol pitcher Connor Adams, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Devault Memorial Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Adams went 5 innings and allowed no runs. The winner was Jason LeCoq in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Gabriel Essenmacher took the loss. Oscar Armiso was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Erwin needed the clutch hitting of Jerónimo Betancourt to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mountaineers on top, 3-1. For the game, Betancourt had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Betancourt.
Erwin is now 17-8. Bristol is 7-18.
