Stampede Down Smokies, 4-1
|
The Medicine Hat Stampede took Harlan pitcher Angel Díaz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Pioneer Park. The final score had Medicine Hat getting past the Smokies, 4-1. Díaz went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 7. Medicine Hat reliever Jack Diaz was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Theo Williams. The loss makes Harlan 9-2.
Medicine Hat used a clutch hit from Leonard Grulke to get the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Stampede ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put together a nice win," Grulke said.
