Late Heroics Net Royals 7-3 Win
|
The Welch Miners got a whale of a performance from pitcher Skyler Forbes, but the Burlington Royals still prevailed, 7-3, in 15 innings. Forbes threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Burlington pitcher Magglio Quero earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Randy Harrison suffered the loss. The Royals now have a record of 8-14 with the win over Welch.
Burlington got a clutch hit from Kolten Clevenger. The left fielder launched a grand slam home run in the bottom of the 15th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"This place sure got loud," said Mark Reed, the Burlington manager.
