Braves Squeeze By Erwin, 2-1
|
In a tight game between the Erwin Mountaineers and the Danville Braves, nobody was more important for the winners than Gage Valentine. Valentine was masterful in the 2-1 win. Cuauhtémoc De Arcos snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Jerod Johnson suffered the loss. Liam Hewitt finished the game for Danville and earned his 2nd save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Amarildo Arca? The 23-year old third baseman Arca stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Danville up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Tough loss," said Erwin manager Eddie Wilbur. "The kind that burns a little inside."
Danville is now 8-6.
