Twins Handled by Kinston, 3-1
|
The Kinston Indians topped the Elizabethton Twins, 3-1, in Appalachian League action at Joe O'Brien Field. The standout performance belonged to Kinston pitcher and Levittown, Puerto Rico, native Julio Enrique Maldonado. Andy Edwards got credit for the save for Kinston. It was his 3rd of the year. The defeat makes Elizabethton 9-4.
The Indians had to work out of trouble with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Kinston. But Elizabethton, with the bases empty, had mounted a threat. Stewart Fyffe dug in at the plate. But on a 1-2 sinker, Fyffe struck out.
