Blue Jays Procure 6-0 Victory
|
Bluefield starter Jeff Mazzei pitched well against the Burlington Royals at Burlington Athletic Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-0. Mazzei, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing no runs. To call the performance of the 2061 Royals subpar is an understatement.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from first baseman Jake Dan. For the game, Dan was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Bluefield a 1-0 lead.
"It all comes down to competing and our guys love to compete," said Blue Jays manager Aiden Niemann.
