Shanks 3-for-5 to Ignite Orioles Offense
|
The Hampton Orioles downed the Bristol Pirates, 9-5, at Hampton Stadium. Kelsey Shanks led the way, going 3-for-5 for Hampton. Bobby Stinson went 6.1 innings for Hampton to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 2 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record improves to 2-1. The Pirates, now 3-9, continue their sluggish start.
With Hampton leading 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Shanks came up to bat against Bristol pitcher Dugal Prajakkata. Shanks hit a fastball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Orioles on top, 9-0.
"When the ball finds the sweet spot," said Shanks, "I can't complain."
