Mets Lose, 5-3, at Bowen Field
|
The Bluefield Blue Jays picked up a win at Bowen Field, taking down the Kingsport Mets, 5-3. Starting pitcher Ignacio Montanez was a big reason why. Montanez, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 10, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Ronnie Nunnally earned the save, his 4th.
Had Harrison Young delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Young flied out. The score remained 5-3, Bluefield, and the Blue Jays were out of the jam.
Kingsport is 6-3 after the loss.
