Yankees Knock Off Mountaineers, 4-2
|
Behind an impressive start by Grady Pelletier, Pulaski beat Erwin, 4-2. Pelletier, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up no walks. Erwin falls to 2-2.
Pulaski won the game in part because of Mark Walsh. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-1. For the game, Walsh had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I'm happy we won," said Pelletier. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
