Indians Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
Welch pitcher Brian Oxendine gave the Indians all they could handle, but in the end, Kinston left Welch Fields with a win, 1-0. Oxendine allowed 1 run on 8 hits over 8.2 innings. Kinston starter Aidan Steck was credited with the win after throwing 80 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Daniel Hershey closed the door for Kinston, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Kinston catcher Shaun Barretti delivered a solo home run in the top of the fourth. Overall, he went 3 for 4, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and knocked in 1.
