Hampton Wins 2-1 Nail-Biter

Fans of the Hampton Orioles who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Hampton win over the visiting Welch Miners, 2-1, in 11 innings. Carl Pedersen started for the home team against Princeton Middleton. Carl Pedersen earned accolades for his performance. Carmelo Olea got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings.
The Orioles got a clutch hit from left fielder Mason Meyer. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Orioles.
"Exciting game to play in," said Pedersen. "Getting the win makes it even better."
