Urbina Outstanding, No-Hits Ironbirds Friday, July 20th , 2029 Fans at Truist Stadium got a rare gift today as Frank Urbina of the Dash tossed a no-hitter against the Aberdeen Ironbirds. Although Urbina did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, he turned masterful as the game went on, ultimately striking out 8 and walking 1 in a 1-0 Winston-Salem victory. "We had our chances in the first few innings when he was hittable, and we couldn't capitalize on them," Aberdeen manager Derrick Mitchell said later. "In the last four or five innings, he totally shut us down." In all, Urbina faced only 29 batters. While getting into his groove, he was helped by several defensive gems. "I don't remember a better-pitched game," Dash manager Shawn Roof said. "And how about our defense today?" To date this season, Urbina has registered 5 starts, 1-1 won-lost mark, 1.71 ERA, 31.2 IP, 21 strikeouts and 8 walks. Opposing teams have hit .135 against him. View Boxscore |
