Greg Essenburg Hurt, Will Miss Rest of Year Sunday, July 25th , 2032 The doctors have spoken and Greg Essenburg of the Mississippi Braves didn't like what he heard. The 23-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Essenburg sustained his season-ending injury during the Biloxi Shuckers game yesterday at MGM Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Mississippi medical staff reported Essenburg had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 11 months. This year, Essenburg has registered no saves in 7 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 4-1 won-lost mark with a 2.23 ERA. In 60.2 innings he has fanned 37. |
