Sunday, August 22nd , 2032
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Cardinals-Reds game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
St. Louis designated hitter Beau Kelly thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the St. Louis to a win, 13-4, over Cincinnati.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Kelly said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Kelly, who led the NL in hits with 238 last year, was 4-for-5 on the day with 7 RBI.
Beau Kelly hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Kasey Price in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jorge Rivera in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off David Bednar in the 8th.
A look at his current stats shows Kelly with a .314 average, 47 home runs, 123 RBIs and 99 runs scored. He has played in 125 games.
