5-Game Suspensions for Cepeda-Nix Fight

The league commissioner's office had responded quickly to yesterday's major incident at Citizens Bank Park involving the Padres Angel Cepeda and the Phillies Jacob Nix. Both players have been given 5-game suspensions for violation of the league code of conduct. The suspensions will be effective immediately.

So far on the season, Cepeda is hitting .190 with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 42 hits and played in 64 games.

During this season, Nix has 27 relief appearances and registered 0 saves. Batters are hitting him at a .315 rate and his season record is 1-0 with a 6.65 ERA. He has logged 43.1 innings and struck out 39.
Detroit's Delgado Will Miss Season
Friday, June 14th , 2030
Detroit starting pitcher Daniel Delgado could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn labrum. He exited yesterday's Toronto game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Delgado would be out 8 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."

So far this season, Delgado has a 2-1 record, 5 starts, 22.1 innings, 24 strikeouts and a 6.04 ERA.
Michaels Gets No-Hitter Against Los Angeles

In a brilliant performance at Nationals Park, Washington pitcher Ron Michaels entered an elite group by tossing a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Angels.

In the effort, he fanned 9 and walked 3, leading the Nationals to victory, 5-0.

"I was getting my off-speed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball," Michaels said in the clubhouse after the game. "My guys made some nice plays behind me and cut off several hits, too."
