Injury Sidelines Jake Bennett For Year
Monday, September 29th , 2031
The doctors have spoken and Jake Bennett of the Pittsburgh Pirates didn't like what he heard. The 30-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Bennett sustained his season-ending injury during the Cincinnati Reds game yesterday at Great American Ball Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Pittsburgh medical staff reported Bennett had bone chips in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5 months.

This year, Bennett has worked 132.2 innings with 132 strikeouts en route to a 7-14 record and 5.56 ERA.
