McNeely Selected NYP's Top Player
Sunday, October 8th , 2028
At the age of 23, Chris McNeely of the Vermont Lake Monsters could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2028 was good enough to win the third baseman the New York-Penn League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .408 batting average this year, as well as a .469 on-base percentage. He played 59 games and racked up 89 hits, 14 doubles, no triples, 13 home runs, 62 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
He received 11 first place votes out of a possible 14. Joe Lamberton of the Aberdeen Ironbirds finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Nestor Garzon of the Batavia Muckdogs finished third with 1 first place vote.
