Ellis Crushes 3 Homers Against Wilmington Thursday, August 10th , 2028 Dave Ellis was in a home run mode today at New Fredericksburg Ballpark. The Fredericksburg third baseman massacred Blue Rocks pitching, cracking out three home runs and going 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. But this sensational performance didn't really matter. Wilmington won the ballgame 11-6 despite the three homers. "I wish a big 'W' had come with this," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but the bottom line is whether you win or lose." Nonetheless, Ellis will now have a place in the league record book. "I guess when you're hot, you're hot," he said. "I'm not going up there trying to hit home runs. I put the good part of the bat on it and luckily three of them went out today." Dave Ellis hit a solo-shot off Edgar Acevedo in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Edgar Acevedo in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Danny Gutierrez in the 9th. Ellis is hitting .224 so far this season with 37 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 51 hits including 15 home runs, 22 walks and .306 OBP. |
