Red Sox Win 7-6 Walk-Off
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Boston Red Sox take on the Texas Rangers.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Texas Rangers, 7-6, in part because of third baseman Wes Kath. Kath went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Red Sox. The win went to Nick Robertson in relief, making him now 2-2. Talin Gardini took the loss for Texas.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Boston trailing 6-4, Kath jumped on a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Talin Gardini and hit a 3-run home run to right. With one swing, the Red Sox had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Kath said.
Texas is 15-12 after the defeat.
