The Chicago Cubs weathered an outstanding game by Milwaukee first baseman Daniel Cuvet to topple the Brewers, 3-2. Cuvet belted 2 home runs. Nick Bitsko got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Orion Kerkering closed it out for Chicago, earning his 7th save.

Had Steve Lucchesi not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Lucchesi hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cubs.

Chicago manager David Ross praised his team's "businesslike approach."

Milwaukee drops to 9-16.
