Sandoval Slugs Blue Jays to 11-10 Win
|
The 11-10 Toronto win over New York was due largely to Juan Sandoval. The Blue Jays shortstop belted 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times. Jimmy Lambert, the winning pitcher, is now 3-0. He went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, while fanning 11 and walking 2. Jose Quezada recorded the save for Toronto, his 1st of the season.
The Blue Jays got a big hit from right fielder Ramon Laureano. Facing New York pitcher Zach Edwards in the bottom of the eighth, Laureano pounded a solo home run to left. His 4th home run of the season put the Blue Jays ahead, 11-2.
"It was our day today," Laureano told the Toronto Herald. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
Toronto, now 15-5, is setting the league on fire so far.
