Nationals Raise Rally Flag, Beat Philadelphia, 5-3
|
The Washington Nationals took Philadelphia pitcher Sixto Sanchez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citizens Bank Park. The final score had Washington getting past the Phillies, 5-3. Sanchez went 5 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 8. The winner in relief was Justin Bruihl. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. With the loss, Philadelphia drops to 9-5.
Cam Collier came through with a big-time hit for Washington. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Feels good to get the job done," Collier said after the game.
