White Sox Deal Guardians 5-3 Loss
|
The Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Guardians, 5-3 -- though it took them 13 innings. Chicago first baseman Colson Montgomery had a pretty good game. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Jose Olivares notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The Guardians, now 4-10, continue their sluggish start.
The most important at-bat for Chicago came in the top of the 13th inning. With one out, Arfeni Batista reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run, putting Chicago up, 4-3.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said White Sox manager Joey Cora.
