Reds Need Extra Innings to Top Brewers, 7-6
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Cincinnati Reds eventually prevailed.
The Milwaukee Brewers could not turn a fine performance from designated hitter Elbert Craig into a win. Instead, the Cincinnati Reds prevailed, 7-6. Craig went 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Cincinnati reliever Ben Bollinger was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jackson Cox.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Cincinnati catcher Ben Burcar, facing Jackson Cox, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Reds the 7-6 win.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Burcar told the Cincinnati Daily.
The Reds, now 3-0, have been playing some good baseball.
