Mariners Spill Rangers, 5-2
|
The Seattle Mariners earned a win at Globe Life Field, knocking off the Texas Rangers, 5-2. On the bump for Seattle was right-hander Erich Uelmen. He had a starring role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Uelmen, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Carlos Vargas picked up the save, his 2nd.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 30-year old catcher Rafael Marchan. Marchan had a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mariners ahead, 4-2. For the game, Marchan had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We did a lot of things right," said Marchan.
At 3-0, the Mariners have played well so far.
