Dodgers Trip Yankees, 4-2, in Extra Innings
|
Fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Los Angeles win over the visiting New York Yankees, 4-2, in 12 innings. Blake Yaag started for the home team against Chris Mercado. Blake Yaag earned accolades for his performance. Los Angeles reliever Colin Holderman picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Joe Clunan was tagged with the loss.
The decisive blow was delivered by David Gaytan in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a 2-run home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Joe Clunan to win the game for Los Angeles. The home crowd went nuts.
"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Yaag.
