Padres Stumble, Lose to Mariners
|
The Seattle Mariners picked up a win at T-Mobile Park, taking down the San Diego Padres, 10-0. Starting pitcher Sergio Romero was a big reason why. The winner was Romero. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Zion Bowdry. The Mariners go to 73-82, putting them last in the American League West Division.
Andres Arriola had a big 3-run home run for the Mariners in the bottom of the third inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Zion Bowdry and punished it. The result was his 24th home run of the season, which put the Mariners on top, 4-0.
Said losing manager Ethan Delaneye: "Give the Mariners credit. They played a better game than we did."
