Cardinals Handed 5-2 Loss by New York
|
New York center fielder Aaron Judge was a significant contributor in his team's 5-2 triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for New York. Randy Vasquez, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held the Cardinals to 1 run on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Chad Green closed the game out for New York, earning his 6th save.
In the top of the ninth, Luis Arraez stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Cardinals were trailing 5-2, but had the bases loaded. That's when Chad Green made a terrific pitch and Arraez lined out. Gone was the dream of a St. Louis comeback.
New York is now 83-72, while St. Louis is 55-101.
