Rays Score Late, Stun Reds, 3-1
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a sterling performance from pitcher Noah Murdock, but the Tampa Bay Rays still prevailed, 3-1. Murdock threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Luis Castillo earned the save for Tampa Bay, his 8th of the year. Cincinnati now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
Tampa Bay used the timely hitting of Alvaro Tiscareno to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rays on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Bottom line," said Cincinnati skipper Ahron Cooney, "we didn't play well enough to win."
