Seattle picked up a win at Globe Life Field, bumping off the Texas Rangers, 3-1. Pitcher Jacob Shafer was a major reason the Mariners emerged victorious. Dayeison Arias recorded the save for Seattle, his 36th of the season. The Mariners go to 68-81, putting them last in the American League West Division.

Shafer was in the zone all game. He frustrated Texas hitters while giving the Mariners 8 innings of quality work. Shafer threw 92 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 4 punchouts.

"It feels good to get this one," Shafer told the Seattle Chronicle.
