Twins Beaten By Guardians, 3-0
|
In a low-scoring game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Minnesota Twins, pitcher Chris Callis was masterful on the mound. The Cleveland left-hander spearheaded his team's 3-0 win. The Guardians saw their record improve to 71-79.
Vicente Garza had a big solo home run for the Guardians in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Matthew Matthijs, who is on pace for 208 strikeouts this season, and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Guardians on top, 2-0.
Cleveland manager Bob Renner commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
