Astros Suffer 5-1 Loss to Angels
|
Los Angeles pitcher Jeff Simmons did his part in helping his team beat the Houston Astros, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Simmons picked up the win for Los Angeles, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 15-9. The 4th-place Angels now sit at 70-75.
The Angels got a big at-bat from left fielder Drew Downs. For the game, Downs went 1-2 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Los Angeles a 2-0 lead.
"Jeff mixed and matched," said Los Angeles manager Kyle Dhanani.
