Phillies Raise Rally Flag, Beat Cincinnati, 7-4
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a sterling performance from pitcher Josh Hartle, but the Philadelphia Phillies still prevailed, 7-4. Hartle threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The win went to Kyle Hoskins in relief, making him now 5-5. Victor Gonzalez took the loss for Cincinnati. James Karinchak recorded the save, his 31st.
Philadelphia took a 7-4 lead on Eli Small's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Small hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cincinnati pitcher Joel Kuhnel visibly frustrated.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Small said after the game.
With the win, the Phillies sit at 71-67.
