Late Rally by Royals Secures 6-1 Win
|
The Kansas City Royals faced a tough opponent in Cleveland pitcher Brusdar Graterol, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Progressive Field by a final score of 6-1. Graterol went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Jeremy Liebeck notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-3. Kansas City, at 60-74, sits in last place in the American League Central Division.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Max Clark came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Max Meyer, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Kansas City on top, 3-1.
Clark called the win "a collective effort."
