Red Sox Rally to Win, 6-5
|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, downing the New York Yankees, 6-5, in 11 innings. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Tanner Houck, who played a pivotal role in the win. Boston reliever Alex Vesia picked up the win, upping his record to 7-5. Will Brian was saddled with the loss. The second-place Red Sox hiked their record to 67-66.
Boston used the clutch hitting of Ramon Laureano to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 6-5. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Laureano.
