Blaser Hits 2 home runs in Nationals Win
|
The Washington Nationals saddled the New York Mets with a loss at Nationals Park. The final score was 8-5. Bryce Blaser was 3 for 5, including 1 single and 2 home runs. The Washington left fielder scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win went to Nick Mears in relief, making him now 3-0. Andres Munoz took the loss for New York. With the win, Washington upped its record to 70-61.
Had Jack Ruckert not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Ruckert hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Nationals.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Blaser told the Washington Citizen.
