Yankees Get One-Run Win at Los Angeles
|
New York pitcher Prelander Berroa did his part in helping his team beat the Los Angeles Angels, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Berroa, now 3-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. New York is in 4th place in the American League East Division with a record of 56-74.
Chris Cobo had a big 2-run home run for the Yankees in the top of the fifth inning. With New York leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Kolten Smith and punished it. The result was his 40th home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 4-0.
Berroa attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
