Mets Take 10-1 Pounding
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the New York Mets, 10-1. On the mound for Arizona was right-hander Daniel Sandino. He played a key role in the triumph. Sandino, now 12-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Mets, now 58-70, have lost 4 in a row.
Arizona won the game in part because of Ryan Mitchell. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 2-0. For the game, Mitchell had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Arizona manager Jerry Brooks.
