Reds Popped by Phillies, 6-1
|
The Philadelphia Phillies downed the Cincinnati Reds, 6-1, at Citizens Bank Park. Stellar pitching by Luis Carrera had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the NL in strikeouts with 167, handcuffed his opponent all game. Travis MacGregor picked up the save for Philadelphia, his 1st of the year. The last-place Phillies now have a record of 59-69.
Left Fielder Michael Toglia made an impact for Philadelphia, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Damani Poitier in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Toglia went 1-4 with a double.
"Luis gave us everything he had," said Philadelphia manager Ethan Baker.
