Pittsburgh Drops Los Angeles, 5-1
|
Trevor Rogers was nothing short of phenomenal for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 34-year-old left-hander was a big reason his team beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1. Rogers got the win, improving to 1-4. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Jack Carey closed the game out for Pittsburgh, earning his 25th save.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Luis Angulo to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Pittsburgh manager Brian Boyd commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The 4th-place Dodgers have lost 4 consecutive games.
