Reds Popped by Cubs, 6-2
|
Chicago turned a good effort from starter Mavrick Rizy into a win over the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field. The final score was 6-2. The Cubs saw their record improve to 63-56.
Chicago third baseman Christian Knapczyk contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 84th hit of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 2-0.
"Mavrick was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Chicago manager David Ross.
