Yankees Come Back Late to Top Blue Jays, 7-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Juan Figueroa into a win. Instead, the New York Yankees prevailed, 7-3. Figueroa threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The win for the Yankees lifted their record to 63-56.
New York got a game-changing hit from Eloy Jimenez. The designated hitter blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"He who laughs last laughs best," Jimenez said, postgame.
