Seattle Wins, Larson has 3 hits
|
In the 4-3 Seattle win over Detroit, the impact of Josh Larson was substantial. Larson, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2028 draft, was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Sean Telfor earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 5-1. Randy Rodriguez earned his 25th save in 26 chances.
Had BastyĆ£o Carpeneto not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Carpeneto hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mariners.
Seattle manager Cory Koltveit was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
The third-place Mariners hiked their record to 57-61.
