Cardinals Triumphant, 7-0, at Wrigley Field
|
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs, 7-0, in National League action at Wrigley Field. St. Louis pitcher Patrick Sandoval had a standout performance. The Cardinals lead the National League Central Division by 19½ games.
St. Louis used a clutch at-bat from Jorge Cobian to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I thought Patrick threw the ball well across the board," said St. Louis manager Brandon Buchanan.
