Extra-Inning Win by Diamondbacks Over Giants
|
The first-place Arizona Diamondbacks picked up another win.
The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up a win at Chase Field, taking down the San Francisco Giants, 4-3. Starting pitcher Hideaki Hirose was a big reason why. Blake Workman, now 6-5, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
The decisive blow was delivered by Ty Thompson in the bottom of the seventh when he hit a solo home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Clark to win the game for Arizona. The home crowd went nuts.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Thompson said.
The National League West Division-leading Diamondbacks have a record of 70-41.
