Blue Jays Win, 4-3, at Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Phillies could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Luis Carrera into a win. Instead, the Toronto Blue Jays prevailed, 4-3. Carrera threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Toronto reliever Sadrac Franco picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Floyd Shere was tagged with the loss. Zach Maxwell sewed up the save, his 15th.
Kayson Cunningham provided a timely hit. The Toronto shortstop delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Cunningham said.
The losing skid has reached 6 games for Philadelphia.
