Mets Earn 4-2 Home Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets get after it.
The New York Mets got a stellar effort from pitcher Bradley Loftin, helping New York score a win over the visiting Baltimore Orioles, 4-2. The winner was Loftin. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Duke Ekstrom.
The Mets got a big at-bat from first baseman Pete Alonso. For the game, Alonso was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 28th home run of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
Baltimore manager James Resume said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
New York is now 50-60, while Baltimore is 56-54.
